Kendall County Health Department employs over 50 individuals. Salaries and benefits offered by KCHD are competitive with other private and public sector positions. Employment benefits vary according to full-time or part-time employment status and between employee groups. Benefits options include:

  • Approximately 14.5 paid holidays per year (holidays approved each year by the Kendall County Board)

COMMUNITY ACTION SERVICES - ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

PART TIME (24 HOURS/WEEK) - NON-EXEMPT

Responsibilities:

  • Answers phones and assists with questions from the community, provides programmatic outreach, determines needs of clients and completes referral process. Sets appointments for eligible clients.
  • Plan, implement, and support a range of direct client services in all community action programs related to housing, employment, and transportation.
  • Assists with file organization including opening, closing, pulling files, refilling and maintaining integrity of files.
  • Verifies client files for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.
  • Trained in Open Meetings Act (OMA) and responsible for meeting minutes and meeting duties as directed.

 

Schedule:

  • Employee must be able to perform all assigned job duties during assigned business hours, including some evenings and weekends as required. Typical business hours are Tuesday through Friday 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Part-Time, 24 hours per week
  • Employee is required to attend after-hours Advisory Board meetings at least four times per calendar year

 

Benefits:

  • Salary: $26,208

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Positive, cooperative, and professional attitude.
  • Ability to communicate by phone as well as in person including excellent diction, a helpful and culturally competent approach.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Reflects experience/interest in the culturally diverse population that the health department serves.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two(2) years’ experience in an office setting, a certification in secretarial/administrative assistant, or any combination of experience, education, or training which would provide the level of knowledge, skills and ability required.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License and become a Kendall County authorized driver upon hire.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
