Respiratory Illness

Each year, respiratory viruses are responsible for millions of illnesses and thousands of hospitalizations and deaths in the United States. In addition to the virus that causes COVID-19, there are many other types of respiratory viruses, including flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The good news is there are actions you can take to help protect yourself and others from health risks caused by respiratory viruses.

Learn about how to reduce your risk of getting sick from these viruses, and if they are spreading in your community by visiting the CDC's Respiratory Virus Website and Dashboard.

Guidelines for respiratory illness has been updated. To view the most recent guidance, visit the CDC's Respiratory Virus Guidance Website.

Vaccines can prevent or reduce severity of respiratory illness. To learn more about vaccines and to find an administering location, visit vaccines.gov.
