Preventing Lead Poisoning
Did you know........
Lead poisoning is one of the most prevalent, yet preventable, environmental health hazards that can affect any family, regardless of race or socioeconomic status.
Lead-based paint and lead contaminated dust are the most hazardous sources of lead for our children.
Lead-based paints were banned for use in housing in 1978. Houses built before 1978 are likely to contain some lead-based paint.
In fact, of Kendall County’s 40,747 housing units, ~10,594 (or 26%) were built prior to 1978.
If you or someone you know currently lives in a home built prior to 1978, the following information may be helpful. Of course please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have, or for additional information, at (630) 553-9100.
