Is there a cost for an observation or consultation?

No, there is no cost associated with an observation or consultation through Caregiver Connections.

Can a family member request services for their child or does the request need to come from the provider?

Family members can always contact the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant themselves directly or they can ask their child care provider to contact them.

Do Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants give children a diagnosis? 

No, an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant is not there to give your child a diagnosis or evaluate them. Our goal is to identify the child and providers strengths to build capacity and help the child's social and emotional needs be met in away that best fits everyone.

Can providers be given training by the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant?

Yes, we have many professional development opportunities available. We can come to your center or home based program to provide training directly to you and your staff. We also collaborate with the local Childcare Resource and Referral to provide training to all of SDA 5.

Are there Gateway Approved Trainings?

Yes.

What age are the children observed?

Birth to 5 years old.
